Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge Cam — looking southwest

This is a snapshot from the Mammoth Mountain Resort Main Lodge webcam. It matches pretty well with the trip reports on the internet hiking forums for the area.

The high point on the dragon back is about 10,400′ in elevation.  The Google Earth coordinates for the high point are

37o 38’ 13.17” N 119o 02’ 39.67” W

Just a couple weeks ago, most of the slopes were covered with snow.  The only remaining snow patches, formerly referred to as glaciers in years past, are on the northeastern exposures.  No cornices; only escarpments.

It’s gonna be a dry summer.  Keep those “desert still” materials and instructions handy.

Happy hiking!
